Wanted - Pair of Chimera 12' 2.75lb TC rods

As per the title, I'm after a pair of the above. I'm not after any other test-curves.

Message me of you have something suitable.

Cheers,

Joe

The 13ft 2.75 is the recent Chimera 4 ‘barbel’ rod.

If you go back in time, Harrison made Chimera 12ft ‘carp’ rods in 2.5, 2.75 and 3lb (and 3.5).

They are all excellent rods that are stiffer than the Ballista equivalent and softer than Torrix….Apart from the 3.5 which is a beast.

I own the 2.5 and 3lb versions.

I have a look at Eden rods

Yep, it's the 12' 2.75's I'm after...for carp fishing!

Need something a little beefier than my 2.5 torrixes to help deal with the weed.

They seem to have a great reputation among carpers yet they never fetch big money either. I don’t think you’ll have any trouble getting a great set quite cheap to be honest.

And strangely Harrison's dropped production of the Chimera carp blanks a couple of years ago.

Hopefully a set will turn-up 🤞

The prices are mad ! Nobody (except us) wants rods that actually bend.

I bought a pair of 3lb for £50 - they make great pike rods.

I bought 3x 2.5 (which are pretty uncommon) for £160. They make excellent heavy water barbel rods. I gave one to my fishing mate and he really rates it too. My C3’s are virtually redundant.

The only issue with these old ‘carp’ rods is that few were built with cork handles and most have long range ringing. But at these prices there’s enough slack to pay for re-ringing (mine cost £35 each) or even a handle rebuild.

I can’t think of anything else I’d rather use for that sort of money……

i got a set of 11ft 2.5lb baby ballistas there a great rod for short range carp fishing realy nice action that could literally bend to the butt. very impressed with them

I am thinking to use this blank for winter fishing, when 4, 5oz lead is required to hold the bottom.
