Wanted Harrison float GTI

Has anyone seen/used the Mark Tunley 13'6" specialist float with retractable handle ??
Any opinions on this rod please ??

Hi Huanzhou,
So do you have the Mark Tunley specialist float retractable handle ?
No, I don't have this rod, but I used a lot retractable/telescope rod in the past, the high quality ones are as good as the normal rods.
PS, I don't buy Mark's rod simply because it is only breaks down to 2 6ft sections, which is too long for me to carry.

I’ve got an old GTI su and it’s a beautiful rod but it doesn’t get touched nowadays. Acolyte every time!!!! I love Harrison rods but the GTI is well behind the times as far as light, crisp fast recovery blanks go. I’d look at others Adam and don’t just tick boxes. Get in the motor and go pick some up.
Hi Richard ,
as you said I got in the motor and went to my local tackle shop! It must have been my lucky day ,as I walked in the shop they were just reducing in price the DAIWA CONNOSSIUR FLOAT RODS , 13’14’15’17’ rods
After waggling ,bending etc😁😁😁, I bought the 14’ and 15’ rods at £270 for Both .
They even came with hard rod cases 👍

That’s a bargain. Was that the power float or the waggler. They do both ranges. The power float is what you want. Beautiful rods.

It says "W" on the rods, I put a bend in them in the shop and they had a lot of power from the top section and down.
I assume they are the WAGGLER VERSION. I Tried the Free spirit CTX POWER FLOAT at 15' and 13 ft ,there didn't appear to be any difference.I chose the Daiwa ones ,they just felt better quality.
I won't be fishing for Barbel in particular, so I don't really need the power version.Chub, big roach and perch are the more likely Target although Barbel may be caught. The rods are rated to 8lb mono, although I will be using braid main line with either mono or Fluor as hooklinks. The area I will be using them has very little snags and clear gravel runs.
Regards Adam

They’ll handle barbel no problem if played well and tackled up correctly. Top end rods usually way over 200 quid each at 15ft.
These are the product codes.

Hi Rich was thinking about buying a tournament pro 13/15 around £400 ish but found the new connoisseur pro float rod while doing some research around £220 wish so when I get the chance to see one will most probably buy the 15 ft power float ....think the new range will be hitting the shops soon

I’ve always liked every revision of the connoisseur. 15ft power float sounds like a fantastic big fish float rod.
Heavier than an Acolyte plus 15 but rated for stronger lines so I’d imagine a chunk more powerful than the Acolyte too.

So the ctx power float has the same weight as daiwa? I thought daiwa rods will be lighter, seems like even they are lighter, it is not that noticeable.

I am sure daiwa feels a lot better than ctx range rods, really good choice.

Which shop were they on sale Adam?
Walkers of Trowel ,think I got the last ones ??.
But worth giving them a ring if you want one .
The original price tags said £205 for the 15' and £195 for the 14'
I just happened to walk in the shop as they were marking the tags as reduced to £135 each 👍
