Wanted Free Spirit Nylon 12ft Rod Sleeves

Joe Parody

A bit of a long shot. Does anyone have any Free Spirit green nylon rod sleeves they want to part with I've attached a photo of the one I have alongside one of my original sleeves that must be 25 years old and is gradually falling to bits...my sewing skills aren't up to much.
Here's hoping!

I have bought used free spirit rods without sleeves. Presumed f/s would sell replacements as eg daiwa do. Got flannel about not doing so as many clone their rods. Yeah right! But very occasionally they do appear on eBay so suggest you search for the sleeve then save the search and hopefully one day!

Yes, I will be interested to see their reply.. I got my flannel from Johnson Ross where I had bought new f/s rods.

You're right about the new spirit rods they no longer come with sleeves so I'll just have to keep my eyes open for them.

I never thought they were great quality bags anyway. Daiwa for example are much nicer. But at the end of the day, all my bags are in a box in the loft, as their rods are made up.

Try this chap. He builds ( or use to build) most of the free spirit rods. I had some custom builds by him and he had a massive pile of the bags in a corner of his work place. It was a few years ago but worth a try.
Yeah I’m sure Roger could source a bag or two.
I agree they ain’t the highest of quality but they do a job.
The older S series tie up bags were loads better than these zip up ones.
It’s definitely worth noting that if anyone is after a really high quality rod bag made to exact requirements, the women who does “made in Yorkshire” https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/40261559...w-JEEMHT4e&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY bags on eBay is by a mile the best I’ve come across. The materials are soft, thick and exceptionally well made. Here’s one I had done for one of my normarks with a dolly section. I gave her the measurements and she made it to suit the rod exactly.
Not cheap but why skimp if it’s protecting your pride n joy.

Thanks all for your help I contacted Roger Hurst and he managed to find some sleeves at the back of his garage.
I received them on Saturday which is great service and when talking to Roger this morning to thank him re refused to take any payment for them, quite a gentleman.
Thanks Roger

Glad my suggestion worked out for you Joe
When I had a rod built by Roger I was invited over to his workshop to discuss my requirements and found him and his staff very welcoming and helpful and he only charged me the same price as the shop sell them for even though I had a couple of small extras.
Really nice bloke.
glad he could help.
