Wanted Fox barbel duo

Cheers mate, I have two plus rods, one is used and other is as new. Both bought from members on here btw...the quiver top is orange tipped, so I guess that is why some paint, I use plumbers tape. The rod makes for a very good medium feeder rod.
Up late due to buying digi camera...if you can't spoil the missus at Christmas, when can you?😔
They were orange originally between the tip and next eye down. Spliced quivertip ain’t they? which I really like
I’ve seen a good few that have been changed to white and I swear they look like they’ve just been dunked in the pot 🤦‍♂️.
That era of fox rods were awesome. They’d just bought out the very sought after pikemaster range which Harrison were supplying the blanks for.
Fox Barbel plus rods definitely rock imo. If I found an 11 foot set 1.5lb I’d be tempted for my closed season tench fishing on the small lake.

Can someone explain what the XS stands for on the Duo XS?
I’m guessing they are marked xs because this range of duos had the very obvious x wrap on the blank where as the duo lites (non xs) which came just after had a very discreet x wrap that was only visible in certain lighting.
I prefer the look of the non xs blank personally it was very beautifully finished especially in the sunlight.

Blanks are spectacular but Unfortunately they were all let down with rings that weren’t up to the job. They bend way too easily and you’ll only get so many bend backs before it comes off in your hand.
The reel seats are good unless you want to fit a 6000 sized shimano then they are tight but it does go. Cork isn’t bad for off the peg. Certainly a decent enough grade for what you paid at the time for these lovely rods.
All in all I think the blanks were brilliant fitted with average fittings.

Yes , I replaced the original reel seat on mine as it cracked soon after I bought it , other than that my XS has stood up to some serious abuse largely unscathed. I think I paid £99 for mine new , I never used the quiver tips , I seem to recall I gave them away to someone on BFW

I picked one up years ago, Mike, and found it to be a cracking rod. I still have it but it rarely gets an outing these days. However, If things go to plan I'm hoping to use it when targeting some big tench.🤞
