Wanted Drennan twist lock 3m landing net handle

Gerry Giles

Senior Member & Supporter
After a disaster in the Tidal trent where I lost my landing net and pole

I am now in need of your unloved 3m Drennan Twistlock landing net handle if you have one you dont use ?

Tackle box do one in there tb range for 35 , if you can't find a second hand one , looks very like the drennan

Bill do you know how it compares with the Drennan weight wise ?..... I know the Gardner is heavier than the Drennan
It's a tad heavier than the Drennan Gerry but not as heavy as the Gardner. It's construction and the adjuster is same style as the Gardner but the adjuster is made of a "plastic" material and not metal as per the Gardner which is where I think the Gardner gets it's extra weight. Tackle Box do offer a SAH lifetime warranty on it. If I didn't have a couple of Drennan's I would be happy to have one of these for sure Gerry, as Wayne suggests if you can't find a decent 2nd hand Drennan I would have a punt on the TB.
Regards
Bill
PS...if I had the choice of the Drennan or the TB....the Drennan every time 👍

I have the Gardner pole, the screw fittings came unglued on mine after not long in use and I have had to re-glue it! I will be buying the Drennan pole if the Gardner breaks again.

thats very expensive !!!!!!!!!! most places its £54.95 delivered ! so it looks like I will have to spank this months pension money on one lol
I was gonna say...... that’s not cheap.
Definitely under 60 quid.
Worth the dollar mind. I wouldn’t look at another in a hurry.

but then they want £8 postage = £43 so saving only about £12 on the Drennan

I bit the bullet and good old England Angling £54.95 FREE delivery as is most things from him Tim is a real top guy and will always give you great advice and match or beat most prices too factor in the free delivery even on packets of hooks etc he is my first port of call

What was the disaster Gerry, did you forget it or did it go swimming??
I caught a 11lb barbel in the Tidal Trent and as it was my first trip and first double figure fish this season I took a picture and I always give them a very long rest if I take them out for a picture as I know just how much air they can take in
so the swim I was in had like a sand bank and I was standing there for around 10 mins watching the fish and thinking he is ready no more air being belched out at that exact moment my other rod roared off big time I lifted the net inverted it so the fish could swim off grabbed the other rod and had a bit of a battle when he kited into an over hanging bush and snagged but he came out
now as I walked him back I kicked the handle of the net in the dark didnt realise for a moment until I reached for my net that wasnt there 😭
when the second fish came in I had no net so when it was really close I grabbed the line and hand lined it in to the bank and popped the hook out in the water

Oh Dear
Maybe attach a glowstick or something at end of handle.Loop of paracord and bivvy peg.
I have in the past pushed a bank stick in and hooked the spreader block over it to save standing with my foot on the handle so expensive lesson learned
