Wanted-Cadence 15ft #3 float rod could swap for diawa connoisseur

Hi guys I'm looking until whether anyone has got a cadence 15ft #3 (so biggest power rating) float rod they washed to sell?
I've got an lovely diawa connoisseur 15ft float rod I could swap as a consideration. Been used once so immaculate with carry case thanks Jon
 
Ah my bad thank you I thought they did. I guess it'll be the 14ft #3 then. It's a funny one as got a few float rods. A lot of the time if you can get in the river and wade the length isn't as important but like longer rods now for mending they line etc

I love 15ft float rod, much better control. The difficult is to find a rod that has the good balance between the power and the rod weight.
 
Hi Jon, Ive got the 14' Cadence no. 3, not looking to sell it but just thought id offer some feedback. Assume you want it for trotting for barbel, its a lovely light rod you can hold all day and well balanced with a 4000 size reel. It casts well and picks up line fast on the strike but I have to say its not the best power float rod around, ok for the money. I have a 15" Hardy Marksman Supero which although heavier is a superior rod for playing the fish. Based on reputation Id have thought diawa connoisseur a better rod ?

Hardy did a specialist float 15 foot as well I believe. What was that like Cliff as far as power floats go?

Ive only got the the 13' Specialist Rich, lovely rod for chub and silvers, personally I wouldn't use for barbel, not enough backbone. I just had a quick look at the blank doesn't have the line rating on it but Id say max 5lb whereas the Supero is max 8lb. I also have a 15' TFG TSI power float, its a beast but too many hook pulls with that one when using smaller hooks.
 
Thanks gents really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I could be looking for the golden egg as I've also got a browning 15ft carp match rod which I've taken barbel comfortably on. I've not tried the connoisseur out on the river yet but thought it might be lighter in terms of power. So hence thinking sell/ swap whilst as new.
@Paul Collins thank you for the kind offer I'm going to stop the search enjoy and use what I've got. I think it would need to be the 14ft #3 if I was going to go cadence but as cliff kindly wrote its not that powerful.
Inreality I get to use them a few times a year for to where I live. I re-evaluate in the future if needed. Cliff thanks for the heads up on the cadence info.
Feel like I should close the thread now to stop people wasting their time
 
The Cadence 14ft #3 is an excellent rod for the money IMO and does have the backbone when trotting for barbel. It's only limitation would be if there were nearby snags and you were trying to bully a big fish away from them.
 
Thanks Anthony I guess that'll be the problem with pretty much any float rod. I couldn't steer a few bigger fish in the wye last year on 1 3/4 test rod and 12lb line in the flow. I wasn't coding near a visible snag but the fish got into an under water one.

yes that's the situation where I found it lacking, but not just big fish, even 5 and 6 pounders.
 
I have the 16ft #2 Cadence and would be confident with hit and hold tactics on upto double figure fish.
Ive had 10lb+ carp, 7lb tench and 7lb barbel on mine so far and I was surprised by just how much power the lower section had.
The fish tire themselves out against the action of the rod and were actually easier to subdue than on my 12ft 2lb barbel rod. Never used higher than .22/6lb line with 0.20 hooklength.
 
I must say as much as I like James Robbins and some of Cadence products it seems their marketing has caught the imagination of many anglers to the extent that in my opinion better quality tackle that we already own seems inferior to Cadence.

Fished the diawa connoisseur today for chub felt and preformed great. Held it all day not issues whatsoever with a bad wrist to boot. 1 vote for the connoisseur

I am interested as well, the spec says it has a 1.5lb tip and quick down to 2lb mid and butt section, so I guess it can handle big barbel easily. But, it’s build on Harrison blank, so I am worrying about the weight of such a powerful rod at 14ft..

The dark carbons have a lot of marks input so maybe they are more refined and lighter than the old GTI’s. 🤷🏻
 
Rich - I don't think there's a Dark Carbon float, just three cork and three eva handled 12 footers. The float is called the Specialist Float - and there's no mention of it being built on the Harrison blank.
 
The connoisseur is spot on for barbel, I sold mine to buy something lighter due to shoulder problems, but it was a good rod. I’d be very surprised if the cadence rods are better.
