trotting for barbel

It's a method I use most now because I like the fact you're busy all day. But it's not an easy technique to learn, I found it difficult at the start, still not perfect but getting better each time out. Only been doing it for about 5 years barbel trotting that is. One thing overlooked is the big bags of fish you can get when the fish are on. When ledgering I'd get maybe 1-3 fish when catching, when trotting it can be 7-8 fish or more. I've also found big fish do turn up later in the session. As mentioned Keith Spears article is great place to start, line wise he is about bang on. I favour a 14'-16' rod with power, Daiwa make some great ones, or Drennan. Stick floats work best for me, but heavy ones.
