Trent set up !

Starting to fish the Trent more often this season but thinking am gunner need some different gear to what I use now I use Daiwa rods 1.75 and 2.25 at the min match with daiwa 4000 reels never fished the Trent was think rods from 2.5 to 2.75 with some sort of bigger reels what set up are uses using on the Trent please
 
I wouldn't say that there is a typical Trent set up, depends on where you're fishing, how far you're casting and the conditions.

I've got 1.75lb to 2.75lb rods and everything in between. Reels, close in work centrepins or Shimano 5000 reels or up to 8000 size for a chuck to the far bank.
 
Will most probably just be fishing Collingham stretch until I find some other stretches down there not sure if there is any Prince Albert stretches on the Trent will have to have a look
 
I use 2lbs TC rods and Shimano 5010s for most of my Trent fishing. When there's a bit on it or I'm off to the Tidal, I'll be using my new 2.75lbs TC rods and 6000 baitrunners

I believe PA have some of the Trent at Newton Solney, near Burton on Trent.
 
Yes, opposite the Dove confluence I think it is. If you're a member (which I'm not) there must be a list of waters available?
I fish that area of the (upper) Trent from time to time and use light rods, a 'pin with a max cast of two rod lengths out. Collingham is a different animal, apparently, but I have a session booked on there early August and will use 2lb tc rods.. Rod choice is more than just test curves though and there's an excellent article on BFW that explains why - here
 
Thanks will give my rods a go down there and then make decision on what ones would Suite me best there I have never fished it before
