Travel rod?

I'm after a travel rod for an upcoming foreign holiday.
The idea is to do a bit of light spinning from the rocks.......trouble is i don't have a clue what to look for in a reasonable quality telescopic rod. I've got a 4000 size shimano loaded with 10lb braid to use with it.

Any suggestions?

I'm in a similar boat myself at the moment. I can't recommend what I've bought (a Black Rock Geotrex) as I'm yet to use it. I bought it because I got it for less than thirty quid, it has a hard case and it is smaller than most I found when broken down.
 
For casual fishing adventures, I've used the Ron Thompson telescopic rods. You can pick them up really cheap. Not the most aesthetically pleasing rods, but do the job and I've had some of my best ever fish on them. I suppose that if you are going on a dedicated fishing holiday, then something better might be called for. I'm coming to the conclusion that you don't have to pay much for a half decent rod - different with reels though.
 
Borrowed one of the Mike Ladle rods from a friend, brilliant travel rod which would cover a mulititude of fishing !
 
I've had years of service from my 3m Leeda Teletraveller which casts 15-50grammes. Coupled with a smallish reel and 10-12lb line I've landed lots of snook, and redfish to 12lbs. The current equivalent is probably the Icon travel spin.

Do make sure that you wash your reel thoroughly in fresh water after use though, I forgot to do that 2 years ago and wrecked a Shimano 5010!
 
Harrison's 4 Piece Avon would do the job too, and get some use in between trips.
It's 11ft, and being 4 piece has a slightly stiffer note to it than your standard 2 or 3 piece.

I`ve got a Diawa Lochmor that I bought for a trip to the Keys a few years back. Beautiful action not in the slightest bit affected by the four sections.
 
The Shimano seems to fit the bill, would the 9' 10-30g be suitable for light sea work for snapper, cuda, etc. Hopefully!!!

Steve, Reading Angling Centre has a fantastic range of lures these days, most makes are covered.........
