Torrix / ACURIX

Hi Jon ,
Not many tackle shops stock all the rods to enable people to give them a bend,so sometimes it's word of mouth
On rod performance .
Correct, but I have gone to peoples houses to look at their rods. Also I have had a few come to my house also to test before buying etc.
All you need to do is Ask....

Yes I’m also quite lucky in that respect as I live not too far away from quite afew tackle tarts like me.
Between us all we’ve got a lot of the Harrison, free spirit, daiwa rods covered for field tests 😉

I really dislike most Torrix blanks except the 11ft 1.75. I much prefer Chimeras.

Ive played with an Acurix in a shop and really liked it - I’d buy your pair if I needed some more med/heavy rods and I was closer to you. But as I have some C3’s and 2x 2.5 Chimeras I’m spoilt already.

There’s not much a c3 won’t do

I prefer Torrix in the lighter test curves
Chimeras for heavier work all the way to 3lb tc for pike fishing
Then there’s an overlap with Harrison pike blanks which have the characteristics of Chimeras in certain TC but I’m not sure if they are a completely different blank- Rich will know
Love the C3s - so much I got a spare pair..just in case
Adams Acurix rods are very tempting but I have river pike rods covered inc Mk1 Armalites which are the ultimate players rod
I’m sure they’ll get picked up when people start to think about flood water fishing

The ACURIX rods are perfect for my fishing on the Trent ,will cast 5oz no problem and 6oz
if required , they are a through action rod ,and bend down to the butt . I don’t know if the torrix 2.5
would be another good choice as I don’t have one.I was fishing the Trent on Friday , it was higher than normal after some heavy rain, running through quite fast with plenty of weed coming down the River, it took 5 oz to hold bottom. Hooking a double figure
Barbel would severely test your tackle ,and rods of under 2.25 tc in my opinion is asking for trouble.
At this time of year landing a Barbel quickly is paramount ,allowing the fish to recover and be returned A.S.P.
MARK TUNLEY is selling a custom Torrix 2.5 , I think that would be another suitable rod.
” just my opinion “ 🤔

Does anyone use the Torrix 2.5 for The Trent or similar Rivers ??

I had 2.75 Torrix and thought they were much too stiff for barbel fishing. Reasonable carp rods though.

As you say the Acurix are spot on. And so are Various heavy Chimeras.
