Titanium Torzite ringing .

Looking to comfirm an order first thing tomorrow morning for two 12 ft 2.75 tc Hi's . Am thinking of going all out on the spec and am wanting the titanium torzite ringing starting with a 35 mm ringing through to a 12mm tip . Kinda made my mind up , but was wondering does anyone else out there use the same ringing and are they worth the money thanks .
 
Titanium has 2 excellent properties, both of which are ideal for quality rod guides.
strength and lightness. your probably talking half the weight of the conventional Fuji alconites and probably just as strong. Are they worth the money?................. I’m gonna say on a rod that’s gonna spend most of the time in a tripod probably not. The alconites are pretty much the exact same ring just not as light.
on a roving rod or a trotting rod or a rod your spending a lot of time holding then yes absolutely. Every gram counts in this case.

Yes, pretty much as above with some other pros and cons.

Good point , but given the custom build are a one off , something i've always wanted then no expense spared . Thanks mate .
 
No relevance to the thread but Ti is beautiful stuff to weld if you get things spot on regarding shield and heat.
It takes no prisoners if you get things wrong mind. I’ve done a lot of work with that awesome metal in the past. Almost as strong as steel and almost as light as Alu.
the perfect barbel spoon net would definitely be made out of titanium

They’re nice rings and the weight will aid blank recovery. Did toy with the idea of getting them when I got a torrix built a few years ago. However went for minimal in the end as slightly lighter and much much cheaper.

Hi mate did ask the builder ( being Vic Gibson ) could i have a minima ring set fitted and he refused . He basically said he wouldn't ever use them , give his reasons as to why and that was that . I've used him befor and was massively impressed with the carp rods i had built , reason why i went back . I use 10 ft scopes for my smaller setups and do agree with you a minima ring set do look great , aswell as weigh next to nothing . The Torzite , although pricey were the only alternative give its thin lining
 
I wouldn’t want minima rings either tbh.
ive heard the single leg jobbys bend very easily and that contact point on the line itself looks extremely thin to me. I’m sure they have been extensively tested and proved but I like my line up against good ol fashion linings.
 
Well there you go.
that’s saying something when 2 professional rod builders prefer not to build with them.
 
Strange as I’ve had them on a lot of rods and never had a problem with them. They’re my go to rings when I get rods made up these days. Do like the look of Fuji’s just can’t justify the price of them.
 
I know what your saying Ben , they are pricey . It's not every day i get to order a set of new builds , and did wanna make them abit special . I also agree with you on the minima guides , never a problem , and again do look great .

Yeah at the end of the day if your buying something a bit special and the budget doesn’t exist then why not go Ti and go all out.
ive seen a few Vic Gibson rods, very nice indeed. He does those fancy chevron whippings on the butt section i believe if you ask him.
not my cuppa tea but it’s another way you can throw more money at them if you wanted 😂

Kind words mate ha . And as for the chevrons , not my cup of tea either . Gone for a very minimalistic look where the blanks concerned , am wanting the Hi's logo only writing on them and nothing else . Thanks Richard .
 
Sounds a nice build. Light rings on a hi-s are perfect. I brought some second hand 3lb hi-s rods that were built with a 50mm s lite ring set and it just didn’t feel right, they were way too heavy and big for the blank. Sold them and got a set of baby ballistas made up with 30mm Fuji k series guides (couldn’t stretch to 3 sets of the torzite rings unfortunately) as it was that or get the hi-s rebuilt with lighter smaller rings but not many rod builders seem to do rebuilds these days.
