Time for a re-think

Went piking yesterday- same water
07.30 fishing
Not a bleep until 3pm then on the dot clipped out and missed the run🤣
Recast immediately, another clip out another dropped run- great🤬- that’s the feeding spell been and gone
Same rod about 4pm - another clip out but no run. Fortunately I don’t take risks and thumped it and hooked a decent one that had been sat on the bait - recipe for deep hooking but very lightly hooked through good bite indication and striking all runs quickly, even when you’re missing them
A change of bait size and hook positioning seemed to make a difference, assuming it was the same fish that had dropped earlier baits
More pieces of the puzzle to assemble and a blank would have been number 3 on the bounce but would still had a great day

Its called fishing not catching, just three blanks , try ( i think it was winter 2017) on the dove not a bite from 1st week in november till 3rd week in feb, going 3 to 4 times a week,,,,,
Blimey Jim I admire your perseverance think I would have switched to the Trent after the first 2 weeks.

2 day sessions on the middle Trent last week for me.

No fish to report. First time I’d ever fished it - so not unexpected.
