I just figured the temperature is 33 tomorrow?! And seems this small heatwave will last until the weekend? Doesn’t seem good for barbel fishing, maybe it is better to target something else?

Just because the air temperature will be be 16c; doesn't mean the water will have cooled so quickly. The dissolved oxygen will still be very low.24C here tomorrow, but it'll be 16C by the time i finish work tomorrow night and get on the bank.
That’s my thought exactly. Maybe a bit of Rudd fishing after work. Haven’t target them for years.Just because the air temperature will be be 16c; doesn't mean the water will have cooled so quickly. The dissolved oxygen will still be very low.
Best to leave the barbel for a while; there are always other fish to fish for that don't suffer so much in the heat!
Well I did Thursday, it was great to watch an Avon trot down the flow, it something I hope to do a lot more of this season, the opening day was more of a homage to the 16th more than with a belief the fish would be interested and so it proved.Think I will give the float rod an outing.
Not kidding. Some change from yesterday. Iv had to put my extra jumper on just and changed from my walking boots to my muck boots with a pair of boot liners and stuck my deer stalker hat on I’m that cold. Was hoping to save my coffee for later but I’m on my 3rd cup alreadyLooks like the temperature is well on the drop now.
