The secret life of Fox rods

I won a Martin Bowler big river barbel for last year and didn't find it over powerful for general fishing along the stour in Kent and I can't remember actually using the quiver tops for anything but method feeder for carp which was my original reason for buying one then after using the solid tip for floater fishing I got a second one for distance tench and bream. I had them a couple of years before using them for barbel;)

Nope, no answer, especially as I rather suspect that it's the same blank with a different reel seat and different colour finish.

I don't think that either the Fox Kevlar or Kevlex were ever cheap, somewhere in the the £160/£180 region. The blanks were built with quality in mind and the parabolic action was reckoned by some to be one of the best action rods made. These rods, especially the Kevlar are desirable because they are no longer in the tackle shops. However, the price they now command on EBay is not that different from that when they were obtainable through retailers. There is always a hankering after something which is no longer available off the shelf eg stainless steel Nevilles. Chris is correct in stating that the same mandrels were used for both the Kevlar and the Kevlex, I think that the blanks are slightly different, but I'm not 100% sure. Whatever rod is used, it won't catch any more barbel, just nice to have something different! One final point, the fact that the rod bags of the Kevlar/Kevlex state Designed in England doesn't necessarily mean Made in England. Fox tackle and for that matter other mainstream brands are often seen as second best compared to the specialist kit. I don't think that is always the case. The big players can invest a lot of money into R&D and as a result produce a good quality blank and in some cases, exceptional blanks. On the reverse side of the coin, they will save money, cheese-paring on the fittings, which gives an impression of a poor quality product. That's why the specialist products win hands down on impression of quality.

ive had the 12ft barbel plus 1.5 which was soon moved on but i then got the 11ft 1,5 duo lite , what a fantastic little rof , i love it .
you dont see many around which telss its own story for me

it would also make a superb tench rod

I've got a kevlar barbel special and a fox barbel special 12 ft 1.5 and have to admit the Kevlar is gathering dust and I've always preferred the barbel special just feels better balance imo.

This must be something special from Fox at £6499.00 !!!

FOX NEW Warrior S 12ft 1.75lb Barbel Fishing Rod | eBay

Sellers usually do that when they haven't got stock. I'd guess that the normal price would be £64.99 but to save relisting once they get expected new stock in they just bump up the price, usually by adding a couple of zeros and moving the decimal point, to something that no one in their right mind would pay.
