The EA issue licences to polluters to legally pollute our Rivers and Streams...and rake in money in doing so...just like the Rod licence... so there is a conflict of interest. They screw money from both parties. Their main interest is protecting the commercial business interests of our rivers...in using them as open sewers and dumping grounds for water companies. who make and save ££££billions out of this cheap EA/Govt option...at the expense of killing fish, wildfowl, birds, Insects, wildlife, trees and vegetation etc and the natural riverine environment as a whole. Most of these mentioned are protected...but they don't give a f**&k. Basically, the polluter pays the EA 'upfront' for the legal right to pollute our rivers and streams. If the polluter kills fish etc with their pollutants...then they have to pay again....but only if they are caught by the EA doing so....and that is rare nowadays as they do not monitor the sewage and pollution themselves anymore. It is left up to the polluter to report incidents or anglers and dog walkers on the riverbanks. If no one reports incidents...then the EA consider everything is satisfactory...
