Tfg river & stream rod

Hi lads can any one tell me if tfg made a river & stream x1 and also a river & stream x-plus if so what are the differences Any info would be great :)
 
Yeah I know about the x1 model but been offerered a x-plus river & stream
 
Just been out today with my boy who was quiver tipping lobworms for perch on a tfg river and stream rod. Had two at 2.02 and 2.12. Really lovely rod for small river fishing.

Is that the stepped up version ? Why do they mess with the Avon original concept? I believe a true Avon has a test of just 1.0 lb, a lot of these new Avon's are just light Barbel rods, and I am guilty of buying these though awaiting one that has been delayed in the Christmas post, mainly a Daiwa Specialist Avon which will hopefully tame a Barbel, just in case :rolleyes:

I guess that is your thinking too? :)

That's brilliant Nick, and on a Winter's day and throw the lad in too (not literally) and so much better than watching the telly.

A couple of Christmas Eve's ago I did similar on my local small river and bagged a few chub on a float rod, best Christmas present by far.
 
tf gear did an x-plus river and stream rod and also an x1 river and stream rod over the years, both 1lb 2oz t/c, i believe one had a spliced quiver and the other had a carrier section with 3 tips, can't remember what one came first or what rod had which spec but both were definately sold in the uk..
 
searching around i found a tf gear x-plus river and stream rod went for £53 on e-bay back in february this year, it had a spliced quiver.. x-plus river and stream clearly marked on the rod....
 
Just had a look at mine and it just has an x marked on it, 1lb 2oz test curve and has a spliced in quiver with a white end. Bought it reduced to clear for £55 a few years ago. Not really up to the job of landing a decent barbel.

Neil & Howard. Was a fantastic few hours for the lad. He was also using my Avon Royal Supreme pin as I'd forgotten to bring my Shimano reel along. I'm itching to get back there myself, as I'm sure there are bigger ones in there. Funnily enough, fished it a few times previously drop shotting and not had anything to write home about. Sometimes the old ways are the best !

i've never seen one of those Dave, no doubt they did one but early tf gear were changed quite rapidly, they had some real corking names for rods back then, "the grunt".. "the starving whippet" to name a couple, some were good, some were downright awful..:D
 
I`ve got a couple of River and Streams, bought them for perch and small stream chub.

Pretty sure they`re built on fly blanks, very soft action.
 
There was always the rumour that some early TFG rods were Free Spirit blanks as Simeon of Free Spirit and Matt Hayes had a thing going (business wise ! ) at the start and sourced some of their blanks from the same place .Whether this is fact or folklore however, I could not say.
