Tench 2025

The weather has been shocking recently.

I unexpectedly lost access to both my prospective tench venues 2 weeks ago - but given the intervening weather I don’t think I’ve missed much.

Now (also slightly unexpectedly) I’m close to securing a couple of other venues - so I might actually go fishing soon. I haven’t fished since March 14th.
 
I for a long time was a massive maggot feeder fan for Tench. Typical drennan maggot feeder helicopter rig or bolt rig. Then 2 years ago, sat next to an angler fishing the method feeder, who did me 4 to 1, on his method. Typically, if you don't ask you will never find out, so I asked, which transformed my Tench fishing dramatically......
 
Two on the float from my last tench trip. 5lb 6oz and a bit smaller.

Out of interest what method feeders are you using/recommend?
 
Nothing for me the last couple of trips, the fish have been more interested in cruising around about 18inches beneath the surface than feeding, not sure if they are rising with hatches as there are insect explosions going on, especially damsels. I’ve tried to trick them with some bread, casters and even a small zig but nothing doing. No fishing for a week or two now.
 
I had an absolutely mind blowing session this week! If I told you the full of it you probably wouldn’t believe me and I wouldn’t blame you cos I’m struggling to grasp the reality of it BUT I did get a new PB female Tinca….10lb 13oz 😁 My face doesn’t show what was going on inside my head, I was concentrating on the countdown timer 🤣

Fished Wednesday evening 5pm ‘till noon yesterday but didn’t leave baits out overnight, I choose to sleep ‘till first light Paul. Nineteen Tench (nothing too spectacular there) but 1 x 10lb (above) 2 x 9lb+. 8 x 8lb+. 2 x 7lb+. 2 x 6lb+. 3 x 5lb+ & a 2lber. I’ll likely never have a session like that again, very very lucky with the stamp of the fish in front of me. All caught on worm kebab. Attached pictures of the two 9’s
