Adam,

Keep a rod, reel and net and a few other essentials. You might rediscover your mojo one day!

Get well soon. Joe
Not wishing to hijack the thread, and all that, but sage advice this, Adam.

I think we’ve all been there with mojo issues and fishing. I certainly have. There are times when I can think of nothing but angling, sometimes to the detriment of other things in my life like family, business, other hobbies…. And then there are times when I think I’ll never set foot on the bank again and I could sell all my gear in a heart beat. I’ve come to accept this as normal now try to temper my enthusiasm when its the former and rationalise my apathy when it’s the later. Ebb and flow but fishing will always be there in the background regardless.

I understand the health issues too Adam. Last year in the space of five weeks I suffered a heart attack, then underwent a tripple bypass with two mechanical heart valves, promptly followed by a post surgery stroke, three weeks in an induced coma…..oh, and I nearly forgot, a pacemaker fitted too. As I laid there in the bed at Papworth, slowly re-emerging into consciousness and learning to walk, talk, eat and swallow again, one of the things that kept me going through the worst of it was the thought that I’ve still not caught that fifteen pounder I promised myself some twenty-odd years ago.

So as Joe says, keep a rod and reel. I hope you get better and rediscover that mojo.

Sorry to hear about your health issues Adam, as you know, ive had some lovely items from you in the past few years, usually via Wayne, but was nice to meet you the last time 👍but as joe said, keep a few bits, never know if you might get the urge again 🤞

Sorry to see that Adam, I’ve been through something similar the last couple of years. I’ve had to change how I fish and it can be as frustrating as hell, but hopefully you can find a way to get your mojo back at some time in the future.

A true gentleman who has furnished quite a few of us with some exceptional rods and kit at bargain prices and has shown a great sense of humor when being ribbed by some of us. Some of the banter was brilliant and you took it in your stride- always loved your attitude 👍:D

I sincerely hope you keep at it in a way that suits you and don't be a stranger - I bet you'll be back at it next season 😉

I had a period of 3 or 4 years where I only went a handful of times and thought I might not fish again for 30 years. I'm back at it and as obsessed as ever.

I hope your health problems improve Adam and echo the thoughts on keeping a rod. Maybe in a few months there'll be nothing more enjoyable than catching gudgeon on a few maggots. They are beautiful mini barbel after all.

Sometimes a change is as good as a rest.

Had a friend who got bogged down in pursing large pike. He lost his mojo but I persuaded him to return to basics and try trotting a float down a river. He is loving it and it's been a great diversion for him.

Sorry to hear of your problems Adam, I am in the same boat I’m afraid except that I miss it every single day. I still have all my gear and intend to return at some point. Good luck,
G.T.
