Stealth and Concealment

Anyone else have this problem? I am in my mid 50's, 6 ft, and about 2 1/2 stone overweight, most of which sits above my sturdy belt buckle. In a lot of situations the best way to conceal my self is to sit back from the river bank in a very low chair. However on connecting with a Barbel, hook and hold swims, two hands required at all times, I simply can not get out of the chair other than to role sideways into nettles etc. Low chair now left at home. Any suggestions. Giving up beer is not an option, and the John Wilson style of kneeling with his bum on his heels is also out, would require surgery later that day.

I rely on DPM army surplus clothing and my stature for concealment as I'm Hobbit sized...:D.

But that's not as bad as the 'Barbie' girl I saw fishing on a pool earlier in the week... blonde hair (gives what comes next away, really), sleeveless shocking pink top, white shorts... and the absolute topping was the shocking pink rod... all topped by standing on the edge of the fishing platform with the sun at her back... and her shadow stretching out over the water....

Hi Shaun,

I have the same problems...it's just the statistics that vary a little :D

I am in my late 60's, and only 5'-8"....but I do have the couple of stone over weight, and the distribution of it sounds oddly familiar :p I have now bought myself a more comfortable chair, with adjustable legs and back and I am hoping it will solve the problem in question. If that doesn't work, I might see if I can get some new adjustable legs and back for my poor old body :D:D:D

Cheers, Dave.

this 2 stone plus over weight thing seems to be a common trend here, 5' 10" and a bit portly myself, the camo jacket, a throw back from my carping days and still worn for work, has little place in my fishing wardrobe when on the river. a fine hoodie from this forum's shop and combats that make no noise when moving all in green with the odd smear of mud, maybe it is a natural camo suit;), and the stealth of a water vole is all i need:D. While tucked in against the reeds, close to a bush after sliding down a bank i found myself less than 4' from a group of chub, not what i was hoping for but beggars can't be choosers and the barbel pickings were thin to say the least. a few handfuls of hemp and corn had hem in the mood after a few minutes and a bait was lowered in a little upstream to run down towards them. just as the fish nearest turned towards the bait a couple of camo chest wader clad clowns clomped into the swim scattering any fish for 20m in any direction, then one of them wandered towards the bush and reeds i was behind and proceeded to drop the straps of his waders and lower his flys, still without noticing me:eek:
OI, YER DIRTY 8U66ER
I shouted before he had managed to point percy at the plantlife...and me:eek: I think he filled his boots:D:D:D
