Dont know if any one is aware of this programe on later tonight on BBC2 .
Springwatch Guide to Otters .Starts at 20.00 to 21.00 pm .
Could be interesting viewing

After the first 2 mins I'm not holding out any hope for this program but to make the public love them more. We've no hope!

I thought the programme dealt very fairly (although very briefly) with the anglers concerns. There was no mention of culling/controlling, no irate fishery owners calling for blood so not all is lost.

Unless of course you've had a lake full of carp munched and then it will certainly feel like all is lost. The E.A or Government need to look into additional funding to erect otter proof fences IMO. Not such a good idea for rivers obviously but I can't really see any answers to that issue.

the otter myself & my son watched on the severn a few weeks ago was during late afternoon, certainly not in the dark. it spent a lots of time on the bank under an overhanging tree, so i wonder if that might be its home. though by now it would be flooded out. so maybe it needs to find another.

a mate told me of a report he had seen that in the USA (where else) cat poo was proving toxic to otters and causing brain damage. So for those who hate otters, get some moggies and train them to go in the river not amongst your neighbours plants. Of course that means no robins to visit you etc but you cant have everything. :)

Simples mate, Stop the Sustainable Eel Group's members attempting to wipe the eel out and give the otter its natural diet back. Control abstraction, control weed cutting, and restore peace to all mankind.

Last bit only was typed with toung in cheek face

I've been in my daughters house when the cat has used the litter tray two rooms away, I can confirm that it's droppings are toxic to all living matter. Even the flowers on the wallpaper wilted.:D

There is more to Pippa than a dreary and embarrassingly obvious party planning book and I for one am happy to stand firmly behind her.

Me too Howard. Truth be known, I would actually prefer to delve into the subject more enthusiastically than that, enter in to it in far greater depth.

Cheers, Dave.

Well, quite Dave. And she's a good sport, happy to really open up if you show a bit of interest. Oh, that might be pushing it too far.
