Spare rod tip storage ??

Gerry Giles

Senior Member & Supporter
Having just bought a pair of 12` Fox Barbel rods that come with 2 tips

I dont want to cart the 2 spare 6`tips about when I go fishing as obviously I will know which tip to take soo what is the best way to store them ?are their any slim tubes made for the job ? or has anyone got any ideas please ?
thanks in advance

If you're taking about quiver tips and not a 6ft tip you get with the Duo fox rods. Then go to a place like Hobby craft where you can buy plastic tubes with caps each end. I buy them to store my floats. They seem to range from 4" to a foot long. Only a couple of quid each. Or use an extendable float tube. The other idea is just to leave them at home or in the boot.

Gerry, you can buy 6' plastic ( rod ) tubes in most good tackle shops. I put a bit of flat sponge inside each cap for added protection.

thanks fellas
yes it is the two 6`x 1,75 sections I was talking about

Thick Cardboard tubes from carpet shops to store the rods if you're office about breakages- my local shop is happy to get rid of them

Gutter brackets to use as rod racks, nice and cheap from b&q

Blinding idea !!

2 Gutter brackets job done thank you

Seriously Neil? Of course it's serious.

Why ever not? It's a question and this is a forum.

btw, Neil's previous post was subsequently edited !

Neil, come on...new member asking for advice. Not every tackle shop has rod tubes visible or in stock (usually for pole sections) and in a similar position, I'd be thinking a length of plastic pipe from B&Q or similar if I didn't know better. No harm in asking, surely?

i always use a length of white plumbing plastic tubing and a suitable sized stopper for the ends, useful for taking them in the quiver too, works fine for me

Your right apologies, hang my head....:(

Just seem we get a little bogged down with this sort of 'menial' stuff at times, what we need is some rip roaring accounts of fishing stories I guess, with a few pictures to add a bit of spice, I am doing my best

Neil
forum`s are for everyone and a wonderful source of shared helpful information sometimes the very best ideas come from a simple thing that you may not have thought of
hence my newbie type questions
sorry if you think its menial' stuff you could always if you have nothing helpful to suggest ignore my posts
and just Jog on to the next far more interesting riveting subject big smile just out of interest I am in my 70`s and fished since the age of 6 years old in half a dozen different countries I dont think ? I am an idiot

No one suggested you are an idiot, and I did actually type an apology Gerry, perhaps with a wealth of life skills behind you a simple thing such as where to store my spare tips was an odd question.
However as you say this is a Forum so there you go...but I would be more interested in your many years of fishing, in different countries perhaps?

Storing spare rod tips was the reason I stopped buying multiple tip rods as I'd leave the spare top sections in the garage then they'd just get ruined buried under all my other junk I threw in there. Like the idea of making racks for them as I do still have a few spare tips.
