Sounds like it's been a good start to the season?

After looking through the River Reports section, it appears to me that this season is starting well! I've had three very good sized barbel (big considering the small river i'm fishing) so far in two sessions. That's considered a very good start for me! I've also encountered several other reports of multiple nice doubles coming out in a single session. Just compare that to the amount of winging about low water level, otters, pollution etc etc at the end of last season!

Enjoy and be grateful while it lasts! :D

Me too Marc, i had three last night to 13.4, can't remember a season when it kicked off so early, and so well, right place right time ;)

Ian.

Chaps , I'm not complaining either, 3 Barbel , 15 chub ( 6 over 4 lbs ) all in 7 hours of fishing ! I'm back out in the early hours of tuesday morning so fingers crossed !

Stop showing off James, i had 3 hours soaking wet last night for 1 small chub:eek:

Got pretty soaked myself last night....forgot to take my waterproofs. It just started to clear as I left...and what a sunset it was too! :)

Logic would suggest overfishing might be the cause (or one of the causes) for the poor end to last season. The fact that they have had three months without a web of fishing line in their faces, might be why they are more obliging at the moment. To back this up, while there were not many being caught on the 'mainstream' rivers at last seasons end, I seemed to still be catching regularly on the Arrow (only lightly fished for the Barbel).

Only a guess....I'm far from an expert though.

Been out twice thus far on the Wye plenty of barbel caught now well into double figures.Nothing very big typical Wye fare up to about 8lb ,left the back last night got too cold , had three layers on !
