Had a poor barbel season last time as far as numbers are concerned, even the Wye was in a mood with me...opening day last season saw the Rivers full down these parts, and the Severn was unfishable really, so I headed for the Avon, and on my way I got 'snapped' by the cops doing 37 in a 30
and just a month later similar 36 in a 30, which left me £200 odd light and 6 points.
OK I did have a pb Barbel in February at over 14lb, but even that conspired against me in managing to snap the thread on the net, making it a very unceremonious return
2012 I managed 3 that was actually the 17th, as the 16th was a wash out, that progressed into a very fine season, the 'summer' that it rained and rained, but the Barbel didn't mind, and they were easy pickings from the Severn.
Barbel numbers are well down so I have to be real, the Avon is a shadow of it's former self which is a great pity, had some good sessions in the past, and before the Great Flood we used to have a 'double' a session, or so it seemed., be lucky to get one or two in a season now.
Where will I be? don't know, I will decide when I get to the cross roads, right Severn, left Avon...Good luck to one and all.
