Hi I have a pair of 8000 XTEA reels

possibly the best Barbel baitrunner reels made with their 7 bearings and superb clutch that I have further improved by getting them serviced and the new Felindre Dragon washers fitted
NOW !!!!!
as you know these reels have double handles that to be honest I have never had a problem with BUT !!! the perfectionist in me wants to know I am getting the best out of them
and have always thought should I splash the cash and get the single handles for them while its still possible to buy them ?

SOOOOO my question to YOU !! have you done it ?? and thought MMmm bit of a waste of money ??? or do you think Im so glad I did this its brilliant ??

I had two 5010 reels and searched high and low for two handles , I prefer single handles , more pleasing on the eye , need two for my 2500 shimmy’s , but not found any yet

Try PHONING Felindre or emailing
as I spoke to him today to order 2 handles and he told me he had 2 types one of them is not on his page as it was impossible to keep his website updated with changing stock every day/week so only a small fraction of what he has for sale is on the website he puts a lot more on Ebay
 
Apart from the fact I prefer single handles to wind in with, when tench fishing I often have to fish off a platform using a stage stage and buzz bars. Single handles enables me to fit 3 rods on the buzz bars much easier. I can keep the rods more compact which allows more space on one side of the platform for playing fish. Only a minor thing, but it does make a difference.
 
Single handles are definitely an improvement over the double handle. 2 good reasons why I prefer them as an upgrade.
one …. leverage. A single handle is a substantially longer lever from the main gear shaft giving your reels more cranking power for the same amount of force applied.
two ….substantial grip. Double handles have that poxy little piece of round rubber that you can just about nip between finger and thumb.
On the shimano 6000D Eu which is possibly the best barbel reel ever made😉you have this nice big grippy platform to grab properly and make proper use of all that extra cranking power you’ve got through the long single handle.

Woo hoo my new handles for my 8000 XTEA`s arrived from Felindre he has 2 types but only one advertised on the website I went for the really nice looking more expensive one and its completely transformed the feel of the reel

I had them serviced and the new Felindre Dragon clutch washers fitted too cant wait to be able to use them :cool:

Looks good.

I wonder if they will fit the old Shimmy 10000 XTE's? Superbly engineered reels, just couldn't get on with the double handle.

I am under the impression the only difference is the spool sizes but a phone call or email to Felindre will confirm it
