I know this subject has been touched on before, but for any newcomers to angling who may be considering which manufacturers' reel to buy then I would always recommend Shimano as their after-sales service is superb!

One of my old baitrunners recently developed a problem with the bail arm so I posted the reel at 5.00pm last Thursday and it arrived back at 9.30am today, fully operational. Needless to say, I have quite a few Shimano reels and servicing has always been excellent.

I agree about 90%. Their service is very good but a couple of years ago I sent off a pair of old baitrunners but when they were returned they hadn't been fully restored as they no longer had the parts required. So I would say that if you are sending old reels it might be worth phoning first to check they can do what you want.
