Severn BAA parking

Hello,

I've got a BAA ticket to have a go on the Middle Severn this season but I'm slightly concerned that with the present economic hardship facing us all that undernourished locals may try to plunder my van whilst I fish in an attempt to feed themselves. Whilst I don't begrudge leaving a few pellets and a bowl of water out for them I don't really want any gear left in the van nicked. Are there any blackspots and what's the score on parking generally. Many thanks in advance for any help. Tony

As one of those 'undernourished' locals, I can assure you that I have no interest with what's left in your van.

Maybe if you put a sign on the back saying 'No tackle left in this van overnight' it will get left alone......

Or better still, do what the lorry drivers do and leave nothing in it, with the rear doors open....

It's rife with scum round the middle Severn, but so long as you avoid these well known 'hotspots' for car thievery, you should be fine:

Arley R/B, L/B, Harbour, Alveley, Stanley, Hextons Farm, Kinlet, Blackstone, Danery, Eardington Brook Section, Grimley, Hallow, Hampton Loade 'B' Section, Hampton Loade Left Bank, Holt Fleet - Lock Island, Knowle Sands, Quatford, Ribbesford, Trimpley, Underdale

With all due respect mate you DON'T look under nourished lol I have seen evidence of sausages lol

Antony, how many times has your car been done ? I haven't had any problems (touch wood) in any BAA car parks. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen but suggest it's unlikely.

So how safe is the parking then?

If the thieves don't rob you there's a good chance the cows will trash your van, it has happened on several occasions, not just vans either they won't discriminate , I saw a new Land Rover with door panels dented so bad it reduced the owner to tears, and he blanked. :(

I have a van I use for work, it has a few battle scars so I don't worry.

You need to find somewhere where you can park and fish by the van I guess, have a look at the Mythe bit (Lower) on the BAA, you can drive to your peg and the Barbel action is better than the Middle sections with the average weight 10 plus unlike 6lb on the middle :) You will have to be unlucky to see another soul too, hope this helps Anthony.

Where abouts have you been fishing before then Tony where you feel your van is "safe" compared with around here?

Antony can i suggest that in future you pick your words more carefully
So you dont tar all locals with the same brush :(
I have parked in BAA car parks in the past and so far not had a problem .
I would suggest you dont leave any gear in your van

which bit is myth on their website?
also, you shouldn't leave your stuff, especially on show anywhere!

Insure expensive kit, then take the Hyperloops etc. Then it's a win win situation, The thieves get crud, but they are non the wiser, and you claim for your expensive kit. Make sure that you put a pathetic lock on the doors of the van to allow easy access, you don't want your van damaged.

Alternatively leave a bad tempered dog in the van, got me out of a hole with a load of yobs on one occasion! Just make sure that the dog is not a kit chewer, had one of those also.

I mentioned Mythe (Pool) as the access to this stretch is alongside the pool, through the numerous gates, it is flat and unlike the other access by the Garden Centre down a steep lane that has had me stuck after rain getting back:)
Sorry for the confusion and as Joe points out it really is Birds Meadow, there is a sunken barge apparently along the stretch, which provides a good carp area I am told, but the area rarely gets fishes apart from a few BAA matches, well worth a look I reckon, it's the sort of water that would benefit from a few more Anglers I reckon.

Shhhhhh!!!!!

:p

Thanks for all your help. Cliff: never had the van done in a BAA car park as I've never fished any of their waters, hence the question! Neil: I have some experience with cows, they took a shine to my van last season trouble was I was asleep in it at the time, a bit strange till I realized what was happening. And to anybody offended in what is obviously a hot bed of sensitive souls I apologize, though with a smile on my face!

Antony you are not American are you ? The reason I ask is that you are missing a 'H' from your name and you you use a Z in place of a 'S'?

The cow experience must have been horrendous, did they get far before you realised what was happening?
