Serious cold weather footwear at sale prices.

Has anyone tried them. I get cold feet wearing Skeetex moonboots when it's +6 celcius,

The problem for me is that we seem to be stuck between a rock and a hard place as far as footwear is concerned. Like you Chris, I find wellies have their shortcomings...but on the other hand, when they make boots like these, which are obviously wonderfully warm....the guaranteed waterproof part ends at the ankles  Above that, the fabric is labelled as "Water resistant"....not great :(

Getting wet feet in winter is not a good idea, which I guess may happen with these type boots, if you need to step in even shallow water to land a fish, for instance?

Cheers, Dave.

if you buy gortex, then it will be waterproof, just got new pair of harkilla walking boots, wellies are ok with decent socks.
if you want to go knee deep, neoprene waders, easy.

I guess it depends on the boot in question. No mention of them lacking above the seam on the Sorel website. They do go to great lengths to mention the taped seams which would appear a little strange if the upper isn't at least a bit more than water resistant. However, I've no intention of wading in the things. Don't recall the last time I got my feet wet in more that a puddle.

Aah....I was looking at the boots on your link to 'Clearance list', which do state 'water resistant uppers' :D

Cheers, Dave.

Up to around this time last year I would have said Baffin mountains were the best boots I've had.But that was before the sole fell off one of them, leaving me with a very cold and soggy 20 minute walk back to the car.I have a pair of Tay sports now and if I'm honest they are not in the same league as the Baffins.
