Seaguar Flourocarbon

Having used JRC stiff flourocarbon for my combi links for years at £2.99 for 20m i was gutted the last of it gone at the weekend.

I'm looking for a good, ideally inexpensive, alternative in 20lb b/s.

I've heard good things about Seaguar but have never previously looked into it. A cursory search throws up lots of different products. Can anyone recommend a tried and tested product and a good vendor?

been using seaguar ace hard in 8.8lb + 11.6lb for a few years now, as long as you get the knot right its top notch.
buy mine from ebay, seller in durham - sorry cant remember his shop name.

remember to use tucked half-blood knot and tighten up carefully and you will be impressed.

yep, but its the only knot that works dependably with Seaguar Ace Hard...
(try the usual suspects at your peril - i did and found out the hard way)

and like most other flouro's keep away from inturned hook eyes.

Been using 17lb x-line for the mono section of my combi rigs. Not had any problems with it at all. At around £13 for 250m it's pretty good value.

I've used the seaguar and did like it, very heavy, so sinks well. Didnt note any probs with knots, but probably would have used a blood knot of some description. I've also got on well with 15lb xline, but its not as stiff as the seagaur.

Was it the Seaguar Ace Hard, John? I'm going to give it a go. I use X-line for my carping and i really rate it but it is a bit too supple for my hook length requirements.

Thanks for the replies gents.

Plenty of trusted stiff rig 18lb and 20lb flourocarbon lines out there - Korda/ESP etc.

Tried loads of flouro,s, Seaguar I found unreliable, keep going back to X-line, if you need a stiffer line, use the 20lb. I,ve used it for years for both barbel and salmon and it is by far the best, most reliable, learn to tie a "Davy knot" and your sorted!
