has anyone fished rutland for pike? they have opened their doors for lure fishing only until october, just wondered if it would be worth a crack, at £25 for boat and £15 for permit. As really want a double pike...

Never fished it but, in the couple of years I lived right next to Rutland Water, I walked the banks and floated around in a dinghy a few times. Saw plenty of signs of pike activity and more than the odd one or two decent fish in the margins. I'd have loved to fish it for pike, even if I were restricted to lures. The fly anglers often reported catching a few pike on big flashy trout lures.
