Rumours?

Hi Paul. Can only list the ones I know as possible contenders due to factual info i'm aware of.

Probably many more including tidal in reality.

Although i could have added ham hoare island thinking about it.

Mods...........please?????? I won't take this poorly casted bait much longer before I go to the authorities. I have screen Shot his horrible PM's. It's getting more than personal I feel.

Like you had 'evidence' of me resting a Barbel on corn stubble...and you even re-posted the video link showing I clearly did not, that session was a happy evening out with two of my son's, why on earth would you try and lie and attempt to discredit me?

As far as any PM's sent, of course you also now the truth in that Jeff, you have threatened me....you now you are stamping around like a spoilt child because I felt the need to defend myself from what was a malicious unfounded attack.

I really don't want to clog up this place with this nonsense, I am sure others feel the same, let alone the Mods, so just do what you do best, and leave me out of it.

Jesus you two - give it a rest. Do you really think your reputations are being enhanced by this perpetual bickering on public forums, forums in which barbel anglers are making serious (or otherwise) points?

Please take it private, 'ignore' eachother.....or just stop it. I'm loathe to ignore you as I know you both write interesting posts, otherwise.

Never seen a salmon angler on the Thames even though there are salmon ladders ( total waste of time) have herd a rumor of an 18 this week, not the one that was in the mags. Time will tell.

Fishing the Thames for Salmon used to be worthwhile, I've had 5 myself, up to 17lb and a good friend has had nearly 50. He was the one I mentioned catching Barbel on Devon minnows in the spring, that was at Teddington.
Unfortunately the EA/ Thames water kept pumping sewage into the river in summer floods and they killed off the run around 2000. Hopefully things will improve when the big tunnel project is finished.
Before the kill Salmon were running up to the Kennet, Keith Speer caught one at Hambridge, just above Fiddlers reach.

Saw mention of Goring as a possible location for a big Thames Barbel, never fished for them up there but I have fished it for Pike quite a lot, from a boat.
Going upstream from Goring weir there's a lot of good looking Barbel water that probably never sees a bait, certainly impossible to fish from the bank. A small weir on the left hand bank (looking downstream) and a big one above that. There's also a couple of small weirpools and inaccessible side streams below Goring weir. Could be worth getting a boat to target the Barbel.

Hi men ,

Right , so its is for all to see , can both you Jeff , and Neil take this as a final warning as Iv had another message of complaint about the bickering . You both feel slighted I know , but its time to draw a line , or as Ricard said take it private or better still hit the ignore button . Both of you post on the Barbel Talk page , and River Reports , many do not , so to lose two regular contributors would be sad , time to draw a line in the sand on this site please .

He is on ignore Mark, and I did retaliate, I felt I had to, I am sorry this had to be played out on here.
