Help needed iv pretty much went through ever rucksack and never been happy ..add thinking anglers..cotswolds pathfinder.aqua rovering rucksack. now trying a korum one out .I do lots ov roving and I don't like carrying bucket so everything as to fit in it ...HELP LOL..ps thnax in advance

I don’t carry a lot staff, so a Drennan roving bag is normally big enough. If I need to carry more baits, the Nash recon rucksack. I also use the Korum roving one when I want to carry a chair.

Cotswold Aquarius - the rucksacks look great, lots of handy pockets and features. But then after wearing it for a decent walk you realise they are rubbish! So bloody uncomfortable...it's like they forgot to consider this aspect!

Yes there deffo don't sit rite on ur back and mine leaked leaked like a sieve

Drennan roving 20l for stalking and travelling light. For longer sessions or carrying everything a Ridgemonkey Ruggage 40l Rucksack - well thought out comfortable and loads of room

I use one of the older Korum rucksacks, that carries a chair. Have to say it does all you say you want. I can carry my bait in it at a push and its reasonably comfy to carry. I have used it on some long walks on the Severn, from Arley to Trimpley if anyone knows that area, which is a long hike.
I am considering a smaller rucksack or bag for when I go with a one rod roving approach and the Korum is a bit big.

Another vote for the Saber compact rucksack , now own two one for the river one for carp. Well made well thought out and not over priced.

They look similar but the Drennan looks to have a separate top section which would be useful for smaller items (without having to access the main rucksack).

But then the Saber has slots for banksticks which the Drennan doesn’t.

The Saber can be had for £45, cheaper when eBay have their 10% offers on. Think the Drennan is about £70.

I've had my Gardner one for about 9 years, its a bit rough round the edges now but still going strong.

Large pockets, insulated top compartment that fits enough bait for a session (and more) and the main body of the bag is rigid so everything fits nicely and it doesn't collapse when you open it. Great bit of kit.

Hi Robert,

Take a look at the Ridgemonkey 40L rucksack.

Like you I invariably rove and have gone through more rucksacks than I care to remember. I'm in my first season of using the Ridgemonkey but so far I am very happy with it.

How does the Saber one compare to drennan specialist rucksack (30l)?

I use the Saber compact too; it is excellent. It appears to be a straight copy of the TA one. Mine was £30 hardly used from ebay.

But it is really small. I bought a Drennan one as a slightly larger option (but almost never use it). There are 3 different versions of Drennan rucksacks that might do the job - I went thru’ all of them in the tackle shop.

My solution is a small bucket that holds my bait - works for me for short sessions; but maybe not for the OP.

For long walks I use the Fox camo ruckall. I can get everything in I need including 5 litre Hemp bucket wet weather clothing bait grub drink and spare tackle. My chair with a fast mat tucked inside fits to the back of the bag via two straps. My landing net arms and one rod rest are strapped across the top of the bag. There's a bit of weight there but once I get it up on my back I find it remarkably comfortable and that I can keep up a reasonable pace. They only other kit I carry is one rod and landing net pole which are strapped together and carried in my hand. Obviously I only carry what is needed to fish and survive.
The Fox ruckall is not cheap at around a £100 but I've never had cause to regret spending the wonga!
