Looking to buy a new float rod capable of landing Barbel upto say 7lb with the odd better one hopefully! The rod will be mainly used wading ,in water with a good flow and be able to control heavy floats, price upto 250 quid.Any help would be appreciated.

Mark I got the new model Drennan 13' power float. The butt unscrews so you set up the rod in advance at 12'. Cost me around £130. It comes with a rod bag which covers your reel as well.Only had Chub on it so far but it will handle Barbel no probs. Check it out :D

Ask Bob Gill or Dave Lumb, i am sure they can knock something up for you, both are first class rod builders.

Mark . Try Chas Burns at burns built rods in York . He makes rods on Harrison blanks , top notch craftsmanship . I am fairly confident he could sort you out 01904610357

I really like my daiwa spectron 14 foot extra power, handles trent doubles with ease.

Couple of options, fox duolite specimen float for new and if you can find one second hand the fox kevlex barbel float. Both 13' three piece and up to the job

Mark before you go the custom built option which i simply wouldnt knock because i have quite a few, get your hands the Spectron 14ft XP, which i have aforementioned, it is very powerful, very light and balanced for holding all day.
