Rod suggestions please

Hi folks, I appreciate that this is a very subjective topic but I am after suggestions regarding long rods for throwing heavy feeders. I currently have a pair of the Korum big water 13' 2.75 tc. These rods are very good at the price point and I cannot fault them. However on the days when I want to fish across with one rod and fish on the tip rather than with alarms the Korums lack a degree of sensitivity in the bite detection department and I find myself hankering after something a little lighter whilst retaining the ability to get large feeders to where I want them. I know that its a difficult compromise to make but wonder if anyone out there has any thoughts regarding a suitable tool. I really wish that Diawa had made the power mesh rods in 13/14 ft.

How heavy is the pay load and what distance you want to cast maximum.
It sounds to me like you want a power feeder rod but they ain’t casting what your 2.75’s will.

This will be perfect for what you need.
Daiwa Nzon Feeder Rod

13ft and 120gr casting weight. At about £65
Sensitive tip. Don't let the price put uou off.

I have one.

If you can find one the Drennan 12ft 10" Barbel specialist is a great big water feeder rod, it has push in quiver tips of 4,6,8 oz....drennan stopped selling them a few yrs back but they do come up on auction sites.

Hi Graham, this was one of the rods that I had seriously considered in both 13 and 14ft. Certainly the 14 shouldn’t be undergunned, it’s always going to be some Tod a compromise when casting a lot of weight but the tip I’m guessing will be more sensitive than my current rods. I’ve had my barbel seekers out today and am quite reluctant to take the longer rods but needs sometimes must!

You are welcome to pick mine up for a try if anywhere nr Ross on Wye, or near Notts way toward end of Month for a fish with.

Hi Graham, that a very generous offer thank you. However for the money I’d rather buy a rod and give it a try rather than risk damaging your rod. Call me cautious if you like but Sod’s Law and all that! Once again many thanks for the offer.

If you can find one Daiwa N'zon S 13Ft - 180g NZSF1303XXXPQ-AX is very good. especially for longer chucks where heavier leads are needed.
Friend bought the Z version and returned it after trying the S saying the action of the cheaper S version was better or to use his words 'The S knocks spots off the Z.'

Daiwa theory 2.25lb

Comes with a normal top section or a quiver tip section with 2 and 3oz tips or 3 and 4oz tips, can't quite recall without looking in the tackle room.
