As potentially further evidence of my advanced senility, when I don't use my peregrine's, I use German Sportex. I saw a new Sportex xclusive barbel twin tip on eBay, about 4 years ago. 70 delivered seemed ok. So impressed with it, for general use, never barbel I admit, that when I made a profit on something else I blew it on 2 xclusive rods imported thro Sportex UK medium feeder and a float. Cracking rods in my humble etc. Later saw a specimen 11 carp, again new, that was 40 delivered. A bit of a poker at 2.75 but goodness it casts. kept it just in case I ever had the opportunity to fish the Trent. Anyone else tried the later Sportex? They do a Avon which I fancy but don't think there are any in the UK so went back to roger for mine.

The Sportex 11 carp is from about 2012. It has what I think a beautiful filigree in green on a Matt blank. I regret that has died out

Regarding the Sportex 11' blanks, I had a pair of them built by Kevin Baines, that were unfortunately lost in a burglary. They could exert in excess of 7lbs of pulling pressure to the hook and yet had a truly beautiful through action. They were initially acquired for snag and light flood fishing yet such was the pleasure using them they soon became my goto stiks in all but distance ledgering. Wish they were replaceable.

that's a blow. Sorry to have brought them back to mind, painful memories like that are best left as just that..
