Rivers near Bradford.

I'd do some darkest Barnsley but I suspect that only me and Jon Frisby would understand it.

PS If you find the aire barbel please let me know, tiddlers are fine :)

Just enquiring if anybody knows off any Chub/Barbel fishing in the Bradford area??

Hello John,

There are plenty of Chub and barbel in the upper Aire close to Bradford. Most of the barbel are small but others are not so small if you are prepared to have a firtle around for them. ;)

The big clubs have plenty of water on the Aire but sadly none of them have been bothered in helping the campaign to re-stock the Aire with barbel. However, for the most water for your money try Keighley Angling Club. At £4.00 per day or £26.00 per year + £5.00 joining fee, you have lots of the river to go at with at least the chance of a decent barbel, 5lb+ chub, 3lb+ perch, 6lb+ bream (if that's your thing!) and plenty of big grayling or pike if the weather gets really cold. Oh yes, and they put their own money into re-stocking the river with barbel when no one else wanted to know :D
They often have a cheaper option after October. Give the secretary Dennis Freeman a ring for a chat.

The river Calder also has plenty of barbel worth catching in it nowadays but it's on t'other side of the hill from me so I don't know much about it.

Let us know how you get on, John.

Rob
