River Wye article. Pollution v housing

Saw this today on my news feed. Worth a read. Concern mounting (quite rightly) but let's see what happens when housing demand comes up against environmental concerns?

BBC News - River pollution: New phosphate rules hit thousands of planned new homes

More house's 🙄
This obsession with growth will be the end of us, you can't build for ever. Though you'd like to think the current financial situation and it's affect on mortgages would slow house buying a bit.

It will be interesting to see. I can never understand why a developer, subject to planning permission approval, is not required to fit solar panels and a grey water use reclamation facility to each house. If it means charging more per unit / reducing profit so be it. Same with other essential infrastructure such as doctors surgeries and water treatment facilities. Some of these new housing estates are huge.

It's crazy that they don't make solar compulsory, they are fitting heat pumps to a lot of new housing.
They get round the infrastructure issues (doctors, schools etc.) by building in 'phases', this sort of thing shouldn't be so easy to avoid, it's a joke.
