Good Evening Fellow Barbel Friends,

I was thinking of having a look at the river lea though dont know a thing about the various sections or clubs, Fishers Green seems to through up some biggies though i suppose its hammered? Any thoughts or suggestions as to a nice scenic place to fish plus a decent club to join???? PM if you prefer.

john, i would be looking at the kennet mate, about same distance but many more barbel in it and its connecting rivers;)

Yes no night fishing on the RDAA ticket unless you have the benyons night permit.....No fish in St.Patricks and fished the popular bits of the old Loddon.....Love the old Colne but looking for a second venue...

Calcot and Padworth Mill you can fish all night on the RDAA ticket. Don't dismiss Twyford and District either. ;-)

Hi Paul,

I dont really want to fish all night but just a little longer than allowed, Padworth mill im not up to the walk, Calcot dont know about now but in the past it was a troublesome place with pikies....I would never dismiss Twyford and district fished loddon at charvil many many times, plus the Pats and sandford mill..

John,

Try Ware Angling Club, Verulam Anglers, Lea Valley Park Fisheries and Vauxhall Angling clubs, there are plenty of others too.

Good luck if you do fish the Lea, it's been about twenty years since I last fished it, and it was a cracking river then, both in landscape and fishing, hopefully it hasnt changed too much.

Regards

Tommo

Hiya Paul,

Hope alls well with you? I suppose the sensible thing to do is go and do a bit of bank walking:)

John, if you look on the fishersgreencon.co.uk website all the club info is there.

Certain section of the river still gets attention, but you can catch all through the stretch. I believe they're pushing LV Parks to slightly change the kicking off time on the river this season, it should mean an extra bit of post-dusk fishing.

It's still a pleasant place to fish and there's always plenty of swims away from the crowd. A bit of "bank walking" will surely pay dividends. ;)

John,

Hi, the Thatcham AA card is a nice little card for the Kennet with inclusive night fishing on one stretch.

Hi John,

I'm fine ta, you?

Ah a bit of bank walking in the spring..there's nothing better to whet the appetite, shame June is so far off still!
