John, Angling direct were selling 13kg and 8kg powerpro for £6 last week ,do not know if the offer is still on though,Just checked still available.

Yes, been using the Super Slick 8 for some years now and it is 'better' than the standard Power Pro. Smoother through the rings/guides and rounder in profile. Timber brown is the colour I've used.
There are a number of new 8 strand braids out there which may be a good choice. Sufix and Daiwa brands (Sufix Performance Pro 8 and J Braid) spring to mind. I have some but need to use it.....
Buy by diameter - so for 20lb go for 0.23mm and don't be mislead by breaking strains, Euro and USA ratings and latest devil of confusion PE rating.
