I've got 2 Harrison Torrix 2lbers and they are lovely through action rods..but on the river I fish I just prefer a more powerful feel of a progressive action, especially when I'm close to snags!

I’ve got the 11ft 1.75 torrix’s which are my favorite barbel rods bar none. Fantastic action which gets more and more steely the further it goes.
But if I wanted go to 12footers then I’d definitely go chimera

Sorry Dave I missed this. Which torrix 2lb rods do you have 12 or 11 ft
I can tell you that the chimera is more through actioned than either and in my opinion a better rod than the 12 foot 2lb torrix as it doesn’t feel as sloppy in the tip.
I don’t really like the 12ft torrix 1.75 or 2lb rod but it’s weird because I absolutely love the 12ft torrix 2.25lb a lot as it’s a totally different action again being more through. But the 2.5lb torrix goes back to being more tippy.
The 11ft 2lb is incredibly similar to the 11ft 1.75 torrix and these are fantastic rods imo. Again in a class of their own for action being 2/3 soft and through actioned down to a steely but section which is just awesome for playing big powerful doubles on.
Chimera 1 is very through actioned indeed and reminds me a lot of the free spirit seeker blanks.
Chimera 2 is a little stiffer but right through the whole curve. It’s not sloppy but it bends and bends and doesn’t lock up. It’s a beautiful action and definitely a players rod.

Hi Richard, it's the 12 foot 2lb Torrix. ..I'm selling one of them now as I don't feel the need for 2 matching rods anymore 😆..very ocd!

Funny isnt it.

I love my 12ft x 2lb Torrix and the fact that they are sensitive enough in the tip to show me indications that on many occasions meant that I left the bait in place for longer than planned.

This has been especially useful on low density waters with good sized, cagey fish..

It also has enough power lower down in normal and heavy flows on the larger rivers to prevent excessive runs into snags. I also appreciate the extra foot to reduce line drag in good flows.


Bit thank goodness we all have different likes and opinions or life would be pretty dull.

It’s nothing personal though graham. I’m personally just not a lover of those two in 12ft. but they are one of the most popular specialist blanks going so they must be loved by many including yourself.
The 11 footers have a sensitive tip too. They just recover much faster and feel a lot nicer to me personally as they take on a curve.
It’s just a difference in opinion and probably a big difference in where and how we fish too
