Peregrine GTI

There is one list on Ebay. It is in Broxbourne which is 15 miles or so away. The seller wants cash on collection, and doesnt offer courier service, the same problem I have on the aspire. But no matter. if anyone is keen and wants to do a deal, go ahead as I have rod tubes, more than happy to collect and secure for courier.
I have 3 peregrines so know their quality. PM if you want a hand.

That’s a nice gesture Alec.
I totally get where the seller is coming from mind. I won’t post rods either.
I sent one out in a thick walled tube and they still managed to break it by putting something heavy on it.
I copped the cost and I’ll never post one again.

Personally I think the world has gone very lazy.
I had people asking me to post £600 worth of irreplaceable carbotec less than 2 hours drive away.
Complete madness. For a special rod l would always make a special trip and get it home safely
Obviously some distances are just impossible I get that.

Your absolutely right mind .. peregrine rods are beautifully built Harrison’s.

Same here Richard. Totally agree with you!
I'd happily travel a good few hours for the rod I'm after, done 6 hr round trip before now.

I have seriously considered going to Warrington but the seller in effect is saying first come first served, vso however much I want it, 400 miles without confirmation it still there isn't on.. Thats life. I once sent a hardy in a cordura tube thinking that was tough enough. It wasn't!

After having a well protected new 15ft Acolyte plus smashed to bits losing £159. I'll never post a rod again

By contrast, I bought a daiwa SLR on marketplace, delivery included. It arrived by post, pushed through the letterbox and wrapped in brown paper. Unharmed. I have a photo somewhere. Couldn't believe it!

Most couriers doubled or trebled their fees 3 years ago saying they needed to walk rods through the warehouse to avoid damage.Mmmmmm

That is insane, the seller didn't even use a protect tube to send it?

That’s awful Graham.
It’s nothing less than disgusting how some courier’s treat our parcels. I didn’t lose that kinda money but I sold and sent out a shimano purist twin tip specialist rod in a hard cardboard tube.
The walls on the tube were probably 8mm thick I could stand on it and not squash it.
When it arrived the poor buyer received it with a huge dent/fold in the tube and both top sections were squashed and splintered.
I lost the £80 I sold it for and the 20 odd quid it cost me to send it in the first place.
None of these couriers will insure a fishing rod either whether you pay for it or not.

Royal Mail are just as bad I bought 2 Shimano bait runners from eBay £250 Royal Mail deliveered to wrong address and because they had signature they wasn’t interested… I only got them because the bloke 2 streets away who got them personally brought them to my house

when I have sent rods in the past I’ve factored in the price a length of guttering down pipe but it’s hassle so don’t really send rods out anymore in fact I have a normark match rod for sale but can’t be bothered to list it because most people want it posted

Yes, mine was sent in gutter tube. And no rod will be insured whatever you pay.

Beware though, not all gutter downpipe is strong enough. I use it to make landing net tubes (to stop wet nets messing up your car), as shown below, and I also make "golfing" umbrella tubes for the same reason. Tubes are blocked and sealed at one end.

BUT although some tubing is tough and that's obvious when sawing to length, some splits readily when cutting. Grey or black is no indicator of quality.

So if you think such tube will protect valuable rods, be warned.
