pair of special Shimano 3500b reels

bought from Clive a month or so ago, I have used them twice and decided i prefer a larger sized reel so these are now for sale.

They have been stripped down and fully serviced today, using uprated teflon grease and oil, and at the same time the drag washers have been uprated to Carbontex and the spool caps converted to Quick drag so the drag can be locked up within half a turn.

They are both in excellent A1 condition, in fact performance wise now better than when new. There are also two brand new spare spools (rocking horse poo!) both of which have had the Carbontex drag washer upgrade.

Will upload pics tomorrow.

£285 posted by courier - no offers i'm afraid.

The QD is not used as a baitrunner facility, but as an improved way of operating the clutch - it is easier and quicker in operation to have the meaningful drag range within half a turn than in 3 whole turns.
this becomes evident when you are fishing snaggy swims and need to quickly lock the clutch up solid when boris trys to steam into a fallen oak tree!

all my reels (and lots of my customers) have been modded this way - you can adjust clutch slightly/sensitively in just one or two clicks (without QD usually need 1/6 to 1/4 turn of drag knob to make any meaningful adjustment) or go straight to locked up in a half turn (how many complete turns do you have to make (if using say 8lb line) to do this on your reels - probably 1 - 2 whole revolutions - can you tell me the benefit of this????)

It does take a bit of getting used to in operation, but once you've got it you'll never go back.

I can see the benefit on a front drag reel with no baitrunner facility like the ss2600 , but on a baitrunner ?

Where ever I fish I set my clutch accordingly at the start of the session to suit the situation , I will only need to make small adjustments if any during the session . If the baitrunner can't be locked up tight enough it doesn't get engaged

Each to their own , but it seams a pointless money spending exercise on a baitrunner

if your using (say) 8lb mainline the main front drag will be preset wound (say) halfway down to lockup - if you need to stop a fish steaming into a big snag you need to tighten the drag knob completely to lockup sometimes, and this will take a good 2 -3 revolutions of the drag knob to achieve of most standard reels. Why faff about taking 3 times as long doing this when you could go from your preset drag to lockup with a quick half turn of the drag knob?

basically by having a QD conversion the adjustment for the drag is quicker and easier - preset to lockup (and back again or anywhere inbetween) in a blink of an eye, easily.
without it your twisting the spool cap round and round and its less efficient and harder to get quickly, and to find, the exact drag setting you need.
