It’s being repeated on Talking Pictures TV at 18:30 tomorrow (5 Feb) with the episode including Jack fishing for big roach on the last day of the season. Obviously looks very dated now but worth a watch, as are the other country tales included in the show. Nostalgia time….

I used to love watching Jack Hargreaves in my youth.
Have you realised that both Jack H and Mr Crabtree smoked pipes? I'm going to get me one and see if that's the answer to successful fishing!!

I don’t think I’d go to those lengths, Paul! Monday’s episode showed a stretch of the Avon that has changed a lot over the years but was recognisable to all as Ringwood, thanks to the church dominating thebackground. Not a bad roach either!

I enjoyed the mule/ass voice modification, fascinating back story to the vet discovering the method. Probably illegal now. Jack nearly going A over T was amusing.
