The photo of the skeletons isn't of fish from that fishery, it clearly says so.
You're quite correct Nigel, a case of me reading what i wanted to see.
I'll withdraw that statement, and replace it with another.
I doubt that those skeletons are of Carp killed by Otters.
I've seen the kills of Carp by Otters on one of the waters belonging to my club, and by the time the carcases are reduced to complete skeletons - a contridiction in terms - because the bones are scattered over several yards, by every little critter in the vicinity having a go at it.
Those skeletons have been reduced to that state by lying on the bottom of a lake for weeks.
Don't mistake my comments as being an Otter lover Nigel, i neither love 'em or hate 'em, those that are living and breeding from an original population ( i don't believe they were ever wiped out ) i have no problem with.
I am though most definatley the enemy of those a*$£*%!£$ who took it upon themselves to release them.
Also of those who continue to interfere in the natural order of things by building artificial holts, and rearing and releasing orphaned cubs, causing much suffering not just to the natural wildlife, but to the poor Otters themselves.
The so called experts of wildlife organisations etc who elivate themselves to expert status - THEY KNOW NOTHING
and the EA for participating in such acts i would put in the same catergory.
They also for the record know nothing about flood defence, managing the enviroment, or nicking wildlife killing, and fish poaching EE's.
Going off on a tangent now so i'll shut up !
Except to say if this chap has lost any Carp because of nearby Otter releases that the EA was involved in or sanctioned, i sympathise with him, but it's obvious to me that there is no way Otters were responsible for the loss of 8,500 Carp from just one of his six lakes, no way.
The courts will see through him like a pane of Glass, and unfortunatley other fishery owers with future more genuine claims will be viewed with suspicion before they even present their case, and as i said will do anglings cause no favours at all.
I apologise for not reading the sub heading on the photo nigel, i'll endeavor to read more carefully next time
Ian.
