Original Fox Rods, What was in the range?

Hi all,
Ive just bought one of the Original Fox 1lb Specialist rods from here and am really inpressed with it.
I dont know how I havent had one before as Ive tried so many rods over the years!
I usually fish with my favourite TFG River & Stream but think this Fox rod is just as good, maybe even better in some ways.
Now Im wondering what others were in the original green range.
I know of the following, but think they also did some lighter ones too?
1lb Specialist
1.5lb Barbel
1.75 Barbel Plus
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Thanks Ian, just been looking around and reading up on the avon/quiver.
I think Im going to try and find a nice one.

Thanks Neil, I may try and find a 1.5lb Barbel at a later date.

Cheers,
Rob

Not sure if its part of the original range, but ive got a Fox duo-lite 13 ft specialist float, on a green blank. Model ARDO 23. :)

Can't find any info on it on the web. :(

I think the the original duo lites are slightly better , but that’s just my opinion

My 11 ft 1.5 duo lites are superb rods

Would the original green fox kevlar,1.75/1.5 and quiver tip top sections be in that range, its thought to be one of the the ultimate Barbel rods.I have one and its very nice and reaches silly prices second hand

Ive got one of the 1.75 lb tc green blanks and ive had torrix, chimera and others and its still the rod i go back to and use all the time, such a cracking rod sweet action slim and handle the right length, easy to see why they fetch silly money

Landed a 15lb 2oz common from the Gt Ouse today, on a 12ft Duo Lite Specialist. 6lb main, 4lb 6oz hook length and a size 12 Drennan Feeder hook. I was patient and the rod behave admirably. :)

Be wary of the ratings of some of the Fox rods. I have the Duo-Lite Avons (ARD0015) and Specialists (ARD0014). There are no ratings on the actual rods, unlike the Kevlar/Kevlex predecessors. I seem to recall that the only place that ratings were stated for these two types of Duo-Lite was in the Fox catalogue. With the Specialists (ARD0014) they gave different ratings for the solid type section and the quiver carrier section. IIRC, the ratings given were different in the print catalogue to that given on-line. Since then, I've seen anything from 0.5lb to 1lb attributed to them. As far as I'm aware, the information for the Avons (ARD0015) was a little more consistent, and a little less dubious. They were supposed to be 1.25lb. I recall testing the solid sections of both rods at home. I suspect that there will be some comment on it in the bowels of the BFW archives. I know that I confirmed that the Specialist is of significantly lower rating than the Avon. However, I doubted that the Specialist was as low as 0.5lb.

Hi Chris, ( or anyone else ), would you by any chance, have any info on a 13ft specialist float rod ? ARDO23
Thanks in advance for any replies. :)

Derek, there's not much to say. It's a beefed up float rod in the same livery as the other Duo-Lites. I've never seen a test curve quoted for one, but I'd imagine somewhere in the order of 1lb. The line ratings were are relatively low 3-6lb. Equivalent rods in previous ranges where sometimes called barbel float rods.

My rod was classed as 1lb tc, though I later saw that some rated it as 12oz. In fairness, I think 12oz may be nearer the mark. I bought it new for £58, which is amazing value. This was a discounted price. I recently saw the same rod go for £108 on the bay. So it has some big fans out there.
I have also had good chub and tench on the Avon section.
This rod will be with me for years to come, I see no need to look for an alternative. I'm no tart. ;)
