we used to take a gallon of maggots lay half down and top up occasionally if bream reared their heads, its the activity of the smaller fish that arouse the barbels interest mate
Thanks John, it certainly has made me think about baiting techniques. I always use maggots if I want the bait to drift a fair way down stream, but this can be easily achieved when baiting up by giving the bait dropper a sharp jerk when it hit's the bottom.
