Hi, any users of these care to comment on these reels , the carp boys rave about these for the value for money , just wondered how the size compares to say ss2600 's ?

Okuma inception 6000

Miles bigger than a 2600.
spools not quite as big as a Shimano 5500. But bigger than 1990’s 4000GT Baitrunners - which I used for carp and pike with 15lb line.
The Okumas are great reels - perfect size for big river barbel; that’s why my 2 fancy Shimanos are up for sale.
The Okuma ‘quick’ drags aren’t as quick as some - which I actually prefer as it gives you a bit more flexibility.
460g each - not too heavy. Good line lay, drag is fine, 2 line clips on each spool. Just good, no nonsense reels.
The 6000 Inc’s don’t come with a spare spool - but you can buy them separately for around £25 each. So for about £75 you have a reel and spare spool. I now have 4 sets…..
Eventually they will have allowed me to dispose of 8 Shimanos. 3x std 5500 (gone), 2x 5500 Ci4 (going) and 3x old 4000GT Baitrunners (to go).

Brilliant reels for the money i use mine on 3 10ft carp rods, I've never used them for Barbel as i only use centrepins for my Barbel fishing but I'm sure they will be fine.

Hi Tim, thanks for the detailed breakdown on the reels - how do they compare in size to the current 6000 shimano bait runners?
No direct comparison available for me as I’ve never needed to own a Shimmy 6000 sized reel. I think the Okumas would be larger - more akin to an 8000 in that series.
The Okuma 6000 inc box says ‘ capacity .35 mm, 240 metres’.
The spool is approx 60mm wide and 31mm front to back.

as Tim and Dave said great reels i use mine on the tidal trent also use them for catfish in the close season

Not the Okuma Inception model, but I bought 3 of the Okuma CB (Custom Black) 60 reels last year. First one, massively overkill for purpose I know, was to put on my carp floater rod as I was fed up of the smaller spool on the reel I had on there coiling the line up tightly. After I bought the Okuma and saw how well it spooled up, and how nice, smooth and controllable the drag is, I then bought another two to go on my Dark Carbon barbel flood rods. Again, overkill without a doubt, but having used them a few times (I have braid on these ones) they are simply a joy to use and that cancels out the negative issue of the additional weight for me. I can't get my head around how they can sell these reels for £40/£45. Madness.

I've no idea. Don't get me wrong, I've got 3 x Daiwa Castizm 25QDA's on my Torrix carp rods and absolutely adore those, but they are what, £400 a piece new now?! I sold 2 x Shimano 8000D's to be replaced by the Okuma and do not regret it one bit

They do seem to get good reviews , just concerned on size , im using ss2600 's atm and dont want a big pit reel on my barbel rods , i fish Hants Avon mainly atm and most of my fishing is 2 rod lengths max so i dont need a casting reel , might get one and have a look

Does anyone know how big the pulsar Baitrunners are compared with 4000D or GS BR 5000 ?

Please see attached. This is the Okuma Pulzar 6000 against a Shimano 4000 OC which I’ pretty sure is same size as a 4000 D

I have a set of the Inception 6000’s, as well as SS2600’s, Emblem 45 SCW’s, Baitrunner 4500’s and 10000’s. The Okumas quickly became my go-to reels for the Trent. They make the SS2600’s feel like wobbly relics (much as I hate to say it, as the SS were £150 each including speed caps!).
They’re just really good reels, and for the price are a steal. There’s not really much point buying spare spools either, you can get a set of 3 for £130 - I bought an extra so 4 complete reels for £180 which is only £30 more than 2 reels and 2 spare spools.
