Love the Trigga Ice range for winter barbel. Hardly ever use the boilies though, my main approach is a couple of the 8mm pellets glued onto the hair with a mix of 8mm and 4mm pellets in the feeder trapped between a plug of Trigga carpet feed mixed with a dash of Ice liquid in the water. Much like a summer approach except it has a lower oil content than the ellipse/halibuts and generally cast less frequently. Had some great sessions on the Ribble when it's been 12' up and raging using this bait so don't worry about it being 'small' in a flood. At the other end of the scale had my PB just 3 ounces off the river record during a frosty February day when the river was painfully low and clear on the same bait/method. The shelf life boilies are a chub magnet and although I like catching them, I've found the pellets more effective for winter barbel which is why I don't use them. If I want to catch chub i'll use cheese paste!
