Stand corrected again...No TFg rods are built on free spirit blanks it’s an urban myth i actually asked Simeon who owns free spirit he verified it
Good luck with the sale
Rubbish. …. Harrison and free spirit have some fantastic options for exactly this. The Chub fishing market is crying out for an 11’ high end avon/quiver rod, but it doesnt exist and that includes Drennan’s latest Specialist Duo options
Kevin,Guys how do I delete the post and stop the madness
Agree Neil, I had one ...ran line through it, cast it down my garden, towed a 2oz weight through ~30m of long-ish grass (I reckon you can find a fair bit out about a rod's action/feel under pressure by doing this) ... then gave it away to a mate who fancied a go at Severn barbel.Matt Hayes promoted TFG if I remember..took a punt on a Barbel rod terrible thing never used it. At least you have found BFW where you can trust the advice.
Is that where we get the expression "Meat rack" about fashion shows and beauty parades/contests?like women One mans meat is another mans poison.
Still have mine in the loft. You never know it might be sought after...for Matt Hayes to promote that rubbish was cynical in the extreme.Agree Neil, I had one ...ran line through it, cast it down my garden, towed a 2oz weight through ~30m of long-ish grass (I reckon you can find a fair bit out about a rod's action/feel under pressure by doing this) ... then gave it away to a mate who fancied a go at Severn barbel.
Horrible thing, IMO. Maybe, just maybe, it's a 'Martite' rod.

You don’t get much more high end than them.
the tsi range we’re tfg top end range i think I’ve still got the 11ft 1.2lb TC rod that they made whilst it was pretty expensive it’s not that impressive IMO I’ve still got the tf gear 10ft compact feeder rod it might look a cheap rod but I like this rod with the 5oz tip I’ve landed carp to well over 20lb on it and it handled it no problem. the TSI range have a decent look to the blank but not worth the RRP that they wereOn the topic of TFG Rods, I have a couple of TFG TSI rods that were supposed to retail for approx £300 although I paid a lot less. Anyone know much about this range ?
Let me rephrase, putting high end custom rods aside. None of the mainstream tackle companies do an 11’ or 12’, 1.25lb twin tip Avon rod, which is higher end, as an off the shelf rod in the £150+ price range. So it’s not rubbish!
For such rods, the bench mark for me is still the original Drennan Super Specialist Duo, 1.25lb test curve, which came with 1.5 and 2oz glass tips and 2.5 and 3oz carbon tips. Fortunately I have one, which is in good nick and I mostly use it with the 1.5oz tip fitted The latest Drennan offering, the Specialist Duo Twin Tip, is not a good rod IMHO, it has a cheap feel to it and the blank coating/lacquering, scratches from just being on a rod rest, as does the cheap metal end cap on the cork
I do feel that Korum missed a trick with their new Omega rods. Part of the range is a 1.25lb rod, so why not include a tip section with it?

What about cadence CR10 specimen rods? The 12ft comes in three TCs 1-1.5, which I believe ticks all your boxes?Let me rephrase, putting high end custom rods aside. There's a new seeker rod, seeker specialist in 11ft 1.5tc, but I believe the blanks are different from the barbel seeker. Seems like they also discontinued the old barbel seeker rod, which is a great shame.Ok yes
If you exclude the hi end rods your right. There’s not much to go at.
The seeker 11ft is probably close on perfection I’d say. Ignore the test curve, it’s a seriously through actioned soft rod perfect for specimen chub, tench, perch etc.
can be bought “off the peg” with a quiver section too.
Bloody expensive mind but…….
Thanks Rob, I’ve got the 11’ 1.2 too and the 15’ power float, I’d agree that they don’t perform at the level of other expensive rods I own.We
