It’s with regret but at the moment makes perfect sense that I’m going to sell this little rod.
The information on them is near on impossible to find but I’ll tell you what I do know from speaking to the right people and doing quite a bit of digging.
To my understanding there was 4 or possibly 5 made using mandrels from the original mk1 microlite and the 12ft titan2000. I know this because the sections fit together perfectly between those 2 rods. I know the collector well that has 2 of the others and how he come about obtaining them.
It’s an early 90’s rod that was built around the same time as the original mk2 microlite and first 2000’s as it shares the same handle design and single legged Fuji guides in black sic just before titanium was used.
It was made and either given or sold to certain tackle shops or team members in very low numbers and i believe a bit of experimenting was involved with it as when compared with the other 2 my friend has there are some differences in where things are placed and how they were made. These were not batch or production built but instead built as one offs with each one being slightly different.
It’s an 11-13 Foot microlite ltd edition match rod and this particular one is in flawless condition.
I’ve used it on Becks trotting for grayling and it’s just sensational especially with a little light weight pin and a 2g float.
At 11 ft it’s very fast action with a really nice soft tip that quickly stiffens up in the middle to the but and it’s ideal for trotting small streams and Becks with light lines for anything up to 3lb ish…… it gets a bit chaotic when you set into a 4lb chub but the rod will deal with it.
At 13ft it changes into a medium action rod and while it still retains its very fast tip those lower sections naturally want to come into curve that bit sooner with that bit of lower pressure. It feels like a proper microlite at this length and anything of 12oz to 1lb will have it into a lovely battle curve.
It’s not a rod for hitting bites at 50yards with 6g floats or running 6lb line through. It’s a silvers rod with the capacity to have some really good fun on playing quality fish. For me it’s the best 11ft beck and stream rod I’ve ever owned or used and I’m only selling it because things are getting a bit tight at the moment and while I love it dearly it’s a rod I can live without.
£400 or nearest decent offer.
