New Year Resolution

After being on a knife edge 22 months ago when they told me recently no one thought I would last the week back then
I am now now disabled with permanent spinal damage and will be on chemo for the remainder of my life BUT BIG SMILE almost ready to be able to get out

and my new years resolution is to make the 150 mile drive to the mighty Trent and fish a 48 hour session and I wont care a jot if I blank either to me Fishing has always been more than just catching I love the peace and quiet and my surroundings I have met a few fantastic people the wonderful Northern hospitality is alive and well thank god

Sorry to hear that Gerry but what an inspirational attitude. I hope you empty it when you get there mate, but you’re right in that just being there is what’s really important, especially after what you’ve been through.

yes I will do might be a while yet though before Im ready................... I am almost there but weather need to be right I ve been having a lot of retail therapy
and changed a lot of my gear for better lighter things like a much lighter shelter a higher seat etc is what motivates me and the stubbornness in me wont allow me not to achieve it

Me a few weeks ago…….
well doc. I have had a few chest pains, ( he examined me )
’nothing obvious sir, take these indigestion tablets’
me….4 days later….walking into A & E….’ I am having chest pains’
2 nurses give me an ECG….they looked confused and gave me another one…..not confused now….’ get a doctor….NOW’
Doctor gives me a blood test, ‘ well Mr T. If your reading is over 30 then you have had a heart attack….your reading 330’
me….’.Bloody hell’
okay now but a bit tricky for a while

feeling fine now and consider myself one of the lucky ones. It only got really exciting when I was going downstairs to the operating theatre and I started to have another heart attack and the lift went past my floor without stopping! As my wife said when I told her ‘ no more green bananas for you sunshine’. Fishing is on the back burner for a while as I was advised not to get either soaking wet or cold which is a prerequisite at this time of year.

sorry to hear of your problems but glad you are ok and tough enough to overcome it

just like me you may have to adjust your lifestyle for a healthy future mate all the best
